# Otter Beam

> Otter Beam is a multi-platform workstation for using the AI agents, files and apps on your computers from a phone, tablet, another computer, or the web. Sessions keep running in tmux on the host, so disconnecting costs you nothing.

## Product

- Host: install Otter Beam on the Mac you want to reach (macOS 11 or later).
- Clients: Android, iOS, another computer, or the browser at https://beam.otterd.com
- Sessions run in tmux on the host. Losing signal, closing a tab, or switching devices does not stop the work.
- Agents: Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Z.ai, and more to come. Chat view or the real terminal; model, reasoning effort and permission mode can be changed from the client.
- Files: browse the host filesystem; view and edit .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .md and code with auto-save back to the computer; upload and download.
- Apps and displays: watch one app window or a whole display; open an extra virtual display sized for the device; tap, scroll and type from the client.
- Nearby: direct SSH on Wi-Fi, LAN, or a VPN such as Tailscale. Nothing passes through Otter servers.
- Away: Otter Relay forwards the already-encrypted stream. No public IP, port forwarding, or user-run tunnel.
- Encryption: device keys stay on devices and are never uploaded. Relay cannot read commands, output, or files.
- Account required to link devices. Delete from Profile → Account or https://beam.otterd.com/account-deletion

## Plans

The Mac, Android and web apps download free. Otter Beam Pro and Premium add:
- Advanced voice transcription: Pro 200 minutes/month, Premium 500 minutes/month.
- Longer Otter Relay sessions: Pro up to 4 hours, Premium up to 7 days.
Direct SSH on your own network is unaffected by plan.
